A Happiness Blanket?

British Airways have designed a blanket that changes colour to reflect a passenger’s mood.

The wool blanket – called The Happiness Blanket - is embedded with tiny fibre optic LEDs that change colour based on brainwaves transmitted via Bluetooth from a band worn on a passenger’s head.

The blanket shows a crimson colour when the passenger is unhappy or agitated and emits a blue colour to reflect a passenger’s calm state of being.

Could you see yourself snuggling down for a long flight using this?

First of all, we’re pretty sure that airline crews don’t need a blanket to tell them that a passenger is unhappy. Two, we can’t imagine passengers would be happy to add to their discomfort on a long-haul flight by wearing a headband. Three, surely money spent on better food, reliable inflight entertainment and increased leg room would create a better mood on a flight than blue colour-emitting blankets?

Here are 5 ridiculous travel accessories that you really DON'T need:

Like your coffee on the go? Not sure we'd want it attached to our trolley bag:

Ok, we get that airplane seats have been used by thousands of other people but could you really be bothered?:

The B tourist strip. Privacy is important. But do you want to look this ridiculous?:

The ostrich pillow. We have to admit this is pretty cool, but we'd prefer not to overheat:

A portable washing machine for your socks. That's what basins are for:

Let us know about any other silly/ridiculous/unnecessary travel items that you've seen!
