A Garda remains in custody this morning after being arrested on Thursday in connection with the discovery of gun components.
The probationer Garda, in his 20s, was arrested in Dublin.
He's being held under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and can be questioned for up to 3 days.
The investigation is under the direction of Assistant Commissioner, Special Crime Operations, John O’Driscoll.
Probationers are members of the force who are in the first two years of their service subsequent to training in Templemore.
He's the second probationer Garda to be arrested this week.
Another Garda also in his twenties was arrested and questioned yesterday in the south of the country in connection with a number of thefts from a Garda station.
