Au Revoir Paul Pogba?

Au Revoir Paul Pogba?

Have you ever struggled over a big purchase? Say a house or a car? If you're going to splash a major amount of cash you'd like to get value out of your purchase.

For the rest of us mere mortals, it's hard to fathom how you could pay a record fee for Paul Pogba, who won a World Cup medial and leave him on the bench.

Just over 2 years ago the Frenchman returned to former club, Manchester United, on a five-year contract for a then-record for highest football transfer fee at €105 million (£89.3 million) plus bonuses of €5 million, surpassing the former record holder Gareth Bale.

That was then.

Even at the time the money seemed bonkers.

We got a hint of his capability at the World Cup but very infrequently in the red of Manchester United and there is clearly a major personality clash between the player and manager.

In fairness there is probably a fair bit of managing to be done when lads take home a pay packet every week that would be a lifetime mortgage for the rest of us.

But this is the biggest club in the world. You think big personalities. Cantona. Keane. Beckham.

Somethings just not right though.

On Sunday, for the second game in a row, Pogba was an unused substitute. So is this the end of Pogba's time at Old Trafford?

There are renewed transfer rumours doing the rounds with reports of Juventus lining up a deal to bring Pogba back to Serie A.

A defeat by rivals Liverpool left Manchester United with their lowest points tally at this stage of a Premier League season and ex-players and pundits have been putting the boot into Jose Mourinho's side and 19 points behind leaders Liverpool.

Mourinho, who joined United in 2016, signed a new deal with the club in January until 2020.

But how likely is it that will run it's course now?

Don't you just love the dramarama of the Premier League!
